Review by Steve Marquis

Foetus Inc.'s album Sink is a dark, twisted journey through the mind of its creator, J.G. Thirlwell. The album is a collection of industrial rock tracks that are both haunting and hypnotic.

The album's opening track, "I'll Meet You in Poland Baby," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its pounding drums and distorted guitars. Thirlwell's vocals are delivered with a raw intensity that gives the song a sense of urgency.

The album's standout track is "Someone Who Cares." The song is a slow, brooding ballad that showcases Thirlwell's songwriting skills. The lyrics are introspective and melancholic, and Thirlwell's vocals are emotive and powerful.

Foetus is a main solo project and 'one-man band' of Australian polystylistic composer, multi-instrumentalist, experimental sound artist and producer . Jim Thirlwell conceived the basic Foetus concept when he relocated to London in 1978. He composed everything and recorded all instruments himself, handling the entire production, even drawing illustrations and designing artworks, but for each album, he would invent a new 'band' with a word 'foetus' in a deliberately profane/offensive name. Summary by Steve Marquis

Sink is a challenging album that demands the listener's attention. Thirlwell's unique blend of industrial and rock music creates a sound that is both unsettling and captivating. Fans of experimental music will find plenty to enjoy on this album.

Yeah, I struggled with JG Foet's sounds and themes when I was Teen (at the time) too. But, the records endure. I saw this guy perform ca: 1990. I think he was just as nervous as I was....
When I first heard this song in 1988 I was obsessed with it. I urged the DJ to play it at a party once: you can imagine the looks of puzzlement when the crowd, who had just been dancing to Madonna and Giorgio Moroder, heard, "Box... Head ... Box ... Head!" Everyone stopped dancing and looked at each like, 'wtf???' It was awesome. The DJ quickly segued to something else when he saw the no one was getting it, though. :D

SINK really woke my ass up on Foetus. A pop culture guru of mine gave me SFoTW - HOLE when I was just too young to understand it. To my 15 year old ears it was like White Guys Rapping and to top that off, electronics were just 'not cool'. I somehow came around to Skinny Puppy a few years later and decided to reassess Foetus - and was very, very glad I did!
