I first heard this on the radio on John Cargher's program in the early 1960s. In 1977 when in London I attended an exhibition of Gerald Hoffnung's artworks, and there met Anetta Hoffnung. I still have the book 'The Boy and the Magic' by Colette which Hoffnung illustrated. Fond memories!

At music school the professor would play this and we had to write down as many of the pieces as we could. The most fun I've ever had with an exam!

The future members of Les Luthiers heard this in the house of Julio Kacz in early 1960s and started their own musical-humouristic project long ago. They're greats now! With a little help of Franz Reise... Reizen... Reisenztein. See Concierto Mpkstroff for more details.

Listen to the intonation and finesse of these musicians! Humor also has a place in serious playing. I have been listening to this music since college in the sixties! Fun!

The Hoffnung Music Festivals are without equal! Crack me up always- but so well performed. Take the serious to the really ridiculous and beyond. A great absurd joyful point! True art.
